Balancing The Pieces Of Your Life
A part of growing up is making choices about your life, so you can choose the amount of time and focus you will give to each piece. Sometimes people or activities demand a bigger piece of your life and can upset the balance. But here is the key: YOU get to decide how big of piece they will get. Not them.
Here are some examples:
- You would like to join an elite team. You know the practices require a time commitment. It's up to you to plan how you are going to schedule your life, so you still have time for the other parts of your life that you value.
- You have a new friendship/relationship, and they want you to be with them all the time. It's up you to be honest and let them know that your family, school, and job are important, and that you need to make time for them as well.
3 Important things to remember when looking at the Pieces of Your Life:
- You are wonderfully complex and there are many components that make you, YOU.
- You define what is important to you by how you dedicate your time.
- No one item should get 100% of the whole pie that is you. If one piece starts to take over more and more of your life, it might be time to review and rebalance.
